The University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki (Panepistímio Makedonía) is located in Thessaloniki, Greece. It has a research laboratory with significant experience and expertise in coordinating and participating in a large number of national and international research projects under FP5/IST, FP6/IST, and INTERREG.

The laboratory has also provided consulting services for the European Commission as well a number of national organizations e.g. Ministry of Interior, Prefecture of Thessaloniki, Region of Central Macedonia etc. and it has collaborated with a large number of major academic institutions, research organizations, private enterprises and public authorities in Europe.

The University of Macedonia is the second largest university in Thessaloniki. Its ten departments deal primarily with social, political and economic sciences. Before 1991, it was known as "School of Higher Industrial Studies of Thessaloniki" ("Anotati Viomihaniki Sholi Thessalonikis").
